Project services comprise: – Improve the legal framework: Enhancement of an ecologically, economically, socially and politically sustainable approach in wildlife and hunting management; follow-up and strengthening of benefitsharing; development of proposals for and monitoring of legal reform processes – in particular concerning the use of previously fully protected species; support to the harmonization of legislation on wildlife-related issues; – Testing and introduction of (co-) management approaches: enhancement of the active participation of the local population in sustainable use and conservation of wildlife; establishment of pilot areas for the management of Marco Polo sheep; support to the establishment and operation of local institutions to take over the management of hunting areas; support to the preparation and implementation of management plans; creation of incentives for sustainable hunting management; – Institutional development: support to the collection and management of reliable data on the state of wildlife populations and their habitat as basis for sustainable hunting management; identification of and support to partner agencies for taking over the management system. |
