Assignment Name and Brief Description of Main Deliverables or Outputs

The overall objective of the project is to collect up-to-date data about the extent and condition of forest resources within the four CAFT project intervention areas. The intervention areas are Farkhor, Khovaling, Vanj and GBAO. The collected data shall serve as basis for monitoring and forest management planning. This includes a remote sensing based forest cover assessment for all four areas as well as a forest management plan for Khovaling SFE based on a forest inventory.

The main project purposes of the project are (1) to establish a baseline for forest cover monitoring and (2) to develop a pilot forest management plan for Khovaling SFE based on up to date inventory data. These purposes are to support the institutional process of the Forest Agency (FA) in elaborating and developing standard operating procedures, SOPs, within the forest sector.
